Ahoy! Welcome to the Long Beach Singles Yacht Club (or LBSYC, formerly known as the “Long Beach Singles Sailing Association”), a volunteer organization formed in 1985 that promotes sailing, boating, socializing and preservation of our ocean resources. We’re the largest Yacht Club for singles in the Southern California area with many events and gatherings. We’re also a member of the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA), which gives our members access to official sailboat racing events and reciprocal privileges at certain […]
Established in 1929 for the purposes of planning a powerboat race between Long Beach and San Francisco. The proposed race would be run during the San Francisco Motor Boat Show to provide advertising for the show and Northern California boating industries. The Associated Boating Industries of Northern California wrote Daniel M. Callis, Sr., a Long Beach architect active in boating and local yacht clubs requesting a Long Beach area club act as the Southern California host of the race. His […]
The Loch Lomond Yacht Club was established on August 11, 1961 by 21 members. They gathered together in Fred Manley’s Boat Shop at the Loch Lomond Marina and held the very first club meeting. Our first Opening Day on the Bay was led by Commodore Emmett Stevenson. The clubhouse was completed in August 1964, and today our membership averages 85-100 members. The purpose of the Loch Lomond Yacht Club is to foster and encourage yachting and boating. We try to […]
At a time when many Long Beach yacht clubs are having a hard time filling their mahogany paneled bars and dining rooms with well heeled members, one club continues to thrive since its’ beginning in 1937… Little Ships Fleet Yacht Club. Operating out of the Alamitos Bay Marina, LSFYC offers a yacht club program at a fraction of the usual cost! We think of ourselves as a blue collar rather than a blue blood yacht club! We are a fully […]

Lake Mission Viejo Yacht Club is located at a private lake and is a part of the Lake Mission Viejo Association. Membership is open to all members of the Lake Association. In the true sense of Corinthian Sailing, our goal at LMVYC is to promote sailing, to encourage good fellowship among yachtsmen afloat and ashore, and to introduce non-boat-owning amateur sailors young and old to the sport of sailing. Informal sailing lessons are provided free of charge to new members. […]
The club membership, I am told, is for the sole purpose of one thing: the pursuit of furthering the hobby and past time of sailing and encouraging all of the family to participate, including the “little ones.” I have also been told that those folks seeking new membership who do not sail … are not invited to join. Sailing IS very important here. All events at the club are planned or in concert with different sailing events, races, regattas, meets […]
We would like to welcome you to the King Harbor Yacht Club Web Site. Our Club is located in beautiful King Harbor, Redondo Beach, California. The view from the club is spectacular looking right out on the Pacific Ocean on one side and down the channels of the harbor on the other. We love King Harbor because it is big enough to have 1,458 slips, but you can be on the ocean in five minutes from any place in the […]
In the spring of 1977, seven golfers from Puka Da Sky Golf Club had a dream to perpetuate and start an outrigger canoe club for their children, families and friends. The Golfers, Gabe Young, Oliver Kalaau, Danny Lendeza, Willie Baptiste, Clay Park, Keke Kakalia, Dudley Naki made this dream a reality when they created Kaimanu Outrigger Canoe Club. The name Kaimanu was chosen by one of the founders who was adrift on a fishing boat for four days with only […]

“I’ve been sailing at the Bedford Basin Yacht Club since I was 10 years old. I’ve come up through the program and have raced at BBYC. I race 420’s and J/24s, and last year I did a few races with some of the other coaches on the J/24. I have been down to Shelbourne for the Albacore Nationals, and had fun sailing those boats! I volunteered coaching for a year, and this will be my second year as a coach […]

Due to unforeseen circumstances ALYC has been forced to suspend its LTS program for 2014. It is our hope that with continued fundraising and increased volunteer commitment we will be able to resume operations in 2015. We thank those that have supported us in the past and regret any inconvenience this late announcement may have caused. Any parent or individual interested in aiding our efforts, please do not hesitate to contact LTS Co-ordinator Lisa Miller
Although only 75 years old itself, the club can be tied to events dating back at least to 1732. The beautiful island we call home has, since the arrival of the Europeans, been a family estate, hospital, quarantine station, military prison, prisoner of war camp, recruit training station for the British Foreign Legion, ammunition depot and a yacht club. Wayward soldiers and sailors were jailed here as early as 1803. Beginning in 1808 French prisoners began arriving during the Napoleonic […]

The Terra Nova Yacht Club traces its roots to the Bowring Sailing Club established in the early 1960s by the Bowring family for their employees, family, and friends. In 1963 the Bowring Sailing Club acquired the property that currently houses the TNYC clubhouse in Holyrood to be used as a base for Snipe-class races. By the late 1960s the Bowring Sailing Club at Holyrood had disbanded as its members moved from sailing Snipes to acquiring larger boats, perhaps teaching us […]
