I race 420’s and J/24s, and last year I did a few races with some of the other coaches on the J/24. I have been down to Shelbourne for the Albacore Nationals, and had fun sailing those boats! I volunteered coaching for a year, and this will be my second year as a coach […]

We thank those that have supported us in the past and regret any inconvenience this late announcement may have caused. Any parent or individual interested in aiding our efforts, please do not hesitate to contact LTS Co-ordinator Lisa Miller
Although only 75 years old itself, the club can be tied to events dating back at least to 1732. The beautiful island we call home has, since the arrival of the Europeans, been a family estate, hospital, quarantine station, military prison, prisoner of war camp, recruit training station for the British Foreign Legion, ammunition depot and a yacht club. Wayward soldiers and sailors were jailed here as early as 1803. Beginning in 1808 French prisoners began arriving during the Napoleonic […]

The Terra Nova Yacht Club traces its roots to the Bowring Sailing Club established in the early 1960s by the Bowring family for their employees, family, and friends. By the late 1960s the Bowring Sailing Club at Holyrood had disbanded as its members moved from sailing Snipes to acquiring larger boats, perhaps teaching us […]
The Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club history began one lovely afternoon in August of 1935 when Arthur and Marjorie Johnson took Max Barbour canoeing at Long Pond. The Johnson’s wanted to fully show Max this beautiful sheltered haven with its many arms just 15 miles from St. John’s, and yet without a summer home on it. According to Arthur Johnson, Max’s mind took off like a rocket and he said, “Our maritime people must have a yacht club.” The following spring […]

The Squadron of the new Club consisted of only six yachts. Initial dues were one dollar per year and one dollar for […]

History of Pelican Yacht Club The first sailboats appeared on Pelican Lake around the turn of the century. It is no surprise therefore to find that the Pelican Yacht Club history is closely tied to another landmark on Pelican Lake; the Manitoba Sanatorium; or it is locally referred to, as simply the San. The San was established in 1910 and it was coincident that the people associated with it, also associated with the lake, and it was a natural progression […]

Even before the Games were held, negotiations were initiated by the Manitoba Sailing Association regarding the acquisition of the site. However, the property was turned over to the Town following the Games. After two more years of negotiations between MSA and the Town, Gimli […]
