Practices are strenuous, goals are challenging, expectations are high and an individuals roles on the team can be many. Skills of […]
The Sausalito Cruising Club was founded in 1949 as a boating and social club. The club facility is a refurbished WWII ammunition barge that was acquired in 1955. It is docked at Dunphy Park within walking distance of beautiful downtown Sausalito. It has a CF number making it a true vessel. The concrete bottom was installed in 1984 by sinking it into Richardson Bay channel and then floating the ammunition barge onto it. Once combined, the structure was then refloated […]
The seven founding members1 of the Sausalito Yacht Club were already junior members of other yacht clubs, but with teenage hubris thought they could do better themselves. The founders conceived and established the new club on New Year’s Eve of 1942. The time was right. World War II had called many of the older, local boat owners to Europe or the Pacific. Before heading off to war, they trusted their boats to the care of the club’s young founders, the […]
The Presidio Yacht Club has a rich and distinguished history in the San Francisco Bay area. The Club’s origins belong with the establishment of Fort Baker by the US Army in 1850. Originally named the Lime Point Military Reservation (after Lime Point on the north side of the Golden Gate), the Fort operated as a satellite station of Presidio of San Francisco. Its primary missions were mine laying and hosting strategic battery sites – one of which is still accessible […]

The purpose of the Loch Lomond Yacht Club is to foster and encourage yachting and boating. We try to […]

The Half Moon Bay Yacht Club was established in 1978 by a small group of Coastsiders with a shared interest in sailing. The group used the harbormaster’s storage room as its first facility. From there, it grew into a true yacht club that organized racing, trained new members, facilitated access to sailing for those without boats, explored kayaking, hosted visiting racers and cruisers, and enjoyed a rich social calendar. Later, the club was able to purchase its first clubhouse from […]
The Golden Gate Yacht Club was founded in 1939, when members built the first clubhouse on a barge located in the San Francisco Marina. Fifty years later, the Loma Prieta Quake severely damaged the Club, but through the hard work and dedication of our members, the Club rose again to become the showcase facility that now exists. Today, the GGYC is a popular cruise and regatta venue on the San Francisco waterfront, with a dynamic organization of members dedicated to […]

One of this issues the club faces when putting on an event is knowing how many people might attend. A perfect example of this is the Steele Cup regatta scheduled for 8/16. We might get 5 banshees or 25 (ok, maybe 15). And we might get 3 Lido 14’s or we might get a whole bunch. We really don’t know. And not knowing makes it very difficult to plan. How much food & drinks do we bring for the potluck? […]

Encinal Yacht Club, being the 3rd oldest yacht club on the Bay, was founded in 1890. The club was established by residents living in Alameda’s Gold Coast, on the south shore of the Island. The club’s unique management structure was set at the beginning, which designated separate Executive and Flag Officer functions. The club became famous for its moonlit parties, regattas, and cruising events. The club encouraged family participation from the very beginning. The first clubhouse was designed and built […]
EYC has rounded out 2015 atop the waves! I feel I have nearly seen it all these past four years as a flag officer, but as of now I see a shipshape S.S. EYC in bristol fashion, with a bountiful track line left behind and an even richer course ahead; the compass pointing toward our founders vision of the “north star of the bay”. On the horizon I see an eager rising sun on the misty cloud lit sky and […]
